British secret agents bribed Spanish top officials
The release of secret files from the National Archives, shows, that british secret agents bribed spanish officials, so Spain stayed out of the second World War.
 
Some ten million dollars was intented to be passed on to five top figures in the spanish top echelon, including the brother of General Franco, Nicolas Franco, but some nerving days passed on while the american authorities froze some of the accounts in bank being used.
 
Luckily, after some heavy pressure from british officials the american banks freed the account, and Spain stayed out of the war, although intelligence officers later suspected General Franco of ordering officials to pass secrets on to Germans.
